The mythical Phoenix was said to have risen from a spectacular gorge (not really a glen, dale, or ordinary valley–some would say it was a grand canyon) and fly until it reached a shiny brown color: a copper state, if you will. Then, perched upon a flag’s staff, it would catch fire–but it would rise alive and well from its own ashes, leaving its old life deserted.
(The map below takes a little detour, not originally planned. Oklahoma, we have not forgotten you!)

COME for the Pun. STAY for the FUN!

I love Arizona! This is all true, Meteor Crater is my favorite site. It rocks. But I was crushed when I was late, since it left a hole lot to be desired.
And the Petrified Forest is another must see. I can’t remember much from when I was there, I musta been stoned. While I was there I got a ticket for speeding, The officer said was so old the ticket was going against my fossil record.
I stayed at a friends condo in Peoria. Peoria…who comes up with names like Peoria?
